The Line: Southern Methodist Mustangs -19 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Southern Methodist has been on a role as of late, winning eight of its last 10 games. One of those wins was even an upset against a solid Connecticut team. Now the Mustangs will put their hot streak on the line with the 6-11 Hofstra Pride coming to town.
The Pride, a team from the CAA, has lost five of their last eight games and struggles offensively with an average of only 69.5 points per game. However, they have been fairly kind to betters, covering in eight of 11 games this season. They are also 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 road games. They don’t have a deep team and Zeke Upshaw and Dion Nesmith are really the only go-to scorers, but they find ways to keep games close.

It’s no secret the Mustangs have been a surprise team in the AAC this season. They also hold an impressive 4-0 record against the spread when playing on their home court. They shoot a lights out 49.2 percent from the field and are holding teams to only 36.3 percent shooting. This is an above-average team that shouldn’t have an issue staying in the win column.
However, I’m taking the points. Hofstra is 7-1 against the spread on the road this season and is 12-3-1 against the spread in its last 16 games overall. It’s also played Louisville, Richmond and Delaware on the road this year, so it’ll be used to playing in hostile environments. To further add confidence, SMU just played a road game Saturday against UCF, while Hofstra has had four days off.
Expect the Pride to play well and keep the score closer than expected.
