The Maryland Terps travel to North Carolina State to play the Wolfpack on Monday night.
Maryland improved to 11-7 on the year after beating Notre Dame 74-66 last Wednesday night. Maryland shot 39.7% from the field and only 26.9% from three-point range. The Terps reached the free-throw line 23 times and made 73.9% of their attempts. Dez Wells scored all 17 of his points in the second half for Maryland, who forced 8 turnovers in the second half as a team to come back from a 9-point deficit. Jake Layman added 8 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. On the year, Wells leads the tea with 14.6 points per game. Layman is averaging 12.6 points per game, while Evan Smotrycz averages a team-high 6.9 rebounds per contest. The Terps are averaging 72.9 points per game while shooting 43.7% from the field. Maryland is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 38.9 boards per game. After losing two straight games, the win over Notre Dame was huge for the Terps. Maryland will not play its fifth road game of the year; the Terps are 1-3 on the road this season.

North Carolina State dropped to 11-7 on the year after losing to Duke on the road 95-60. The Wolfpack shot 48.1% from the field and only 25% from behind the arc. NC State turned the ball over 21 times and Duke scored 33 points off their miscues. T.J. Warren led NC State with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony Barber added 7 points in the loss. On the season, Warren leads the team with 22.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Barber is averaging 11.5 points per game and a team-high 4.2 assists. The Wolfpack are shooting a decent 46.2% from the field and averaging 72.5 points per game as a team thus far. NC State is a decent rebounding team, pulling down 35.9 rebounds per game this season. After two games on the road the Wolfpack might not be happy to be back home where they lost the last two times out.
Maryland has won nine out of the last ten meetings with NC State, including a 1-point win at NC State last year. The Wolfpack are not playing well right now and won’t have much time to gather themselves before this one. Maryland has not played great on the year but I think they get a win on the road on Monday night.
