Northwestern Wildcats vs. Purdue Boilermakers Pick, Odds, Prediction 1/21/14

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

The Purdue Boilermakers have won three games in a row to raise their record in the Big Ten to 3-2. Purdue is tied for fourth place in the Big 10 and they are 3-4 away from home this season. Terone Johnson is averaging 13.4 points to lead Purdue. Ronnie Johnson is averaging 10.8 points, A.J. Hammons is averaging 9.8 points and 6.9 rebounds, and Bryson Scott is averaging 7.7 points. Purdue is averaging 76 points and they are shooting 44.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.8 points and their opponent are shooting 41 percent. Purdue is looking like a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament.

Northwestern is 2-5 against the spread against the Big Ten, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games. Purdue is 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games against a team with a winning home record, 1-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 8-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. The favorite is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings of these two.

The total on this one seems to be on the low side so my free pick is on the Over. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
