The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off of a loss at Missouri which dropped them to 2-2 in SEC play. Alabama is 8-2 at home this season and while playing the second toughest schedule in the nation. Trevor Releford leads the Tide in scoring averaging 18.3 points per game. Retin Obasohan is averaging 12.2 points, Levi Randolph is averaging 9.3 points, and Nick Jacobs is averaging 8.5 points. The Florida Gators are on a roll starting and are ranked sixth in the nation. Florida is 4-0 in the SEC, 5-2 away from home, and they have played the 27th ranked schedule in the nation. Casey Prather leads the Gators in scoring averaging 17.3 points and 5.5 rebounds, Scottie Wilbekin is averaging 12.7 points, Michael Frazier II is averaging 11.7 points, Patric Young is averaging 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Dorian Finney-Smith is averaging 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds. Florida is averaging 72.4 points and they are shooting 46.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 59.7 points and their opponents are shooting 39.6 percent. UF is all-alone in first place in the SEC.
Alabama is 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games, 2-6 against the spread against a team with a winning percentage over .600, and 0-4 against the spread following a game they scored less than 50 points. Florida is 7-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 4-9 against the spread against the SEC, and 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games. The underdog has covered the point spread in nine of the last 11 meetings of these two.
I expect Alabama to compete here but the Gators are just a top tier team and with the number within reason I like UF to cover.
