Louisiana-Monroe has not beaten Western Kentucky since February of 2010. The Hilltoppers have won the last six meetings. So when the two teams meet Thursday night, don’t be surprised if the matchup continues to be a little one-sided.
Western Kentucky has won three of its last five games and has gone toe-to-toe with some pretty solid programs. It gave Louisville a scare for 20 minutes, lost to Ole Miss by five points and was only down by two points at halftime to Wichita State during the season opener. It’s a team that relies heavily on rebounding and playing solid defense, as its holding teams to around 65 points per game.

The Warkhawks have won two straight to get out of a funk they’ve been in over the last month. However, those wins came against Troy and South Alabama, two of the worst teams the Sun Belt has to offer. They don’t play much defense, allowing teams to score more than 72 points per game on average and are shooting just 57.4 percent from the free throw line during the last five games.
This game may get ugly, so I advise you to take your action somewhere else. I almost never back teams that can’t make free throws, and Western Kentucky isn’t much better with its 66.3 percent from the charity stripe.
But for the sake of making a pick, I’ll back Western Kentucky. It’s the better team at both ends of the floor, has hung in there with some tough competition and is 4-0 against the spread in its last four road games.
Lousiaina-Monroe doesn’t have much to offer and will likely fall to 3-3 on its home floor.
