The Samford Bulldogs and the Pete Hanna Center welcome the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans to town.
North Carolina-Greensboro enjoys the most success in an up tempo style of game although that can also hurt them with a defense that hasn't been able to get stops. A 93-82 loss to visiting Davidson was proof of the defensive struggles where the Wildcats jumped out to an 18 point lead after 20 minutes behind 50% shooting. The Spartans hit at 41% but mustered 16 more looks to stay close but were finished off by the Wildcats 35-15 edge at the line. Nicholas Paulos exploded for 27 points and eight boards with Tevon Saddler tossed in 20 points and seven assists followed by a 19 point, seven pull effort from Kyle Cain.

Samford is similar to their counterparts except they are a bit behind offensively and have struggled even more defensively. The real problem is the Bulldogs can't win on the road and need to steal a few victories on the road to be a factor in the SoCon. A 67-64 loss to first place Western Carolina was one of the few times this team has been competitive away from home and one that could have gone in the win column were it not for a few more three pointers by the Catamounts. Isaiah Williams led the scoring with 15 points with Tyler Hood and and Tim Williams while the entire eight man rotation played at least 13 minutes and managed to score.
Interesting that a seven win team is favored but nothing that happens in the SoCon surprises me. Samford is very good at home so maybe they show it once again...
