The Belmont Bruins host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels for the second meeting of the season.
Eastern Kentucky has been riding one of the better scoring attacks in the game to four victories in a row. The surging Colonels are one game behind Belmont for first in the OVC East after routing Tennessee State on the road by a 94-78 count. The EKY offense and defense came upp big in the first half with the visitors leading 45-32 and never being challenged throughout. These teams shot an almost identical 55% but stood out with 13-25 effort on threes combining with eight more free throws. Belmont might not be the under the radar powerhouse they have been in recent years but at the end of the day the bottom line is they are sitting on top of the Ohio Valley. The Bruins depend more on their scoring then defense for success but the defensive end of the floor has picked up the pace during a three game winning streak. Belmont turned back Morehead State 80-66 behind advantages in most areas with the home team sinking half their looks and turning 25 Eagles fouls in to a 24-13 edge. The Bruins received a contest best 24 points from Craig Bradshaw with JJ Mann tossing in 19 followed by a 17 point, six pull and six assist performance from Reece Chamberlain.
Eastern Kentucky knocked off Belmont rather easily in the first match up and if you believe in revenge then the Colonels are the choice. I'm not really in to the revenge angle but I am in to a cover...
