The Akron Zips take the floor with the Central Michigan Chippewas at McGuirk Arena.
I would say that Akron hasn't looked all that impressive in conference play but at the end of the day we look up and they are tied for first at 4-1 so things aren't all doom and gloom. The Zips finally put together a dominating performance in a 78-68 victory at Eastern Michigan in which they ran out to a 39-19 lead after 20 minutes. Akron's 46.6% marksmanshipp was plenty with the defense limiting Eastern Michigan to only 36% from the field. Jake Kretzer was the offensive star with 25 points and seven pulls with Demetrius Treadwell netting 18 points and snagging eleven rebounds while Quincy Diggs added 15 points, seven boards and five helpers.

Central Michigan has looked pretty good until the past month or so where things have gone south. The Chippewas have kicked off the conference slate at 0-5 and have dropped seven of eight overall with the defense struggling to get stops combining with a few inconsistent efforts from the scoring. CMU comes in off of an 86-80 loss at Miami (Ohio) with the home team sinking shots at 59% and the Chips countering with 46.6% but staying competitive with a 13-32 mark from beyond the arc. Chris Fowler led the CMU attack with 19 points, five yanks and six helpers followed by Austin Keel with 13. John Simmons tossed in eleven points and snatched eight boards while Austin Stewart and Braylon Rayson each netted ten points.
Central Michigan probably let one get away at Miami (Ohio) and Akron looked fantastic which hasn't happened often. This looks squirrely to me...
