It’ll be a matchup between two middle of the road teams when St. Bonaventure and Duquesne battle it out Saturday night. The Bonnies recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over La Salle, while the Dukes are currently riding a four-game losing streak.

But with that said, St. Bonaventure is better than its 12-7 record indicates. It’s also played some tough matchups that includes a five-point loss to UMass, a six-point loss to Saint Louis and a seven-point win over Delaware. The Bonnies can play some decent basketball and keep things close, which is why they are a solid 11-6 against the spread this season.
The Dukes can’t manage a victory because they’re only shooting 40.8 percent and allowing teams to shoot above 48 percent during the last five games. To make matters worse, teams are averaging 13 made threes against Duquesne’s Swiss cheese defense during the last five games. No, that’s not a misprint. I guess it’s a good thing the Bonnie shoot only 30.4 percent from downtown.
If you really must wager on this game, you have to go with St. Bonaventure. It’s 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games and is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight games played in Duquesne. Meanwhile, the Dukes are 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 home games.
