The Saint Mary's Gaels take the hardwood with the Loyola Marymount Lions at McKeon Pavilion.
I think that Loyola Marymount still has aspirations of winning the West Coast although their 3-6 conference mark makes that a very long shot. Having said that the Lions have enough scoring punch to defeat anyone in the league. That scoring ability was front and center in a 92-81 decision over Pacific on the road. LMU won the shooting battle 47%-39.7% and turned 26 Pacific personals in to a 31-17 advantage at the line. The one, two punch of Evan Payne and Anthony Ireland did the bulk of the scoring with 25 and 24 points while CJ Blackwell and Gabe Levin tossing in 17 and 12 points with Levin grabbing ten rebounds.

Saint Mary's went through a rough stretch where they dropped three straight in the Diamond Head Classic and then were routed shortly after by Gonzaga but the club seems to have gotten their feet under them in winning three in a row. The Gaels are solid at both ends of the floor and are just one game behind Gonzaga at 5-2 after knocking off Pepperdine 80-74 at home. SMC didn't dominate with 42% shooting but did own a 26-17 advantage at the free throw line which was decisive. Brad Waldrow led the scoring spree with 21 points and 13 rebounds with Stephen Holt right on his heels with 20 points and seven boards. Kerry Carter and Beau Levesque rounded out the top producers with 18 and 13 points.
I just don't see an upset here even though Loyola Marymount has played Saint Mary's tough on occasion. I hope this is one of those times which means the Lions have to score or face the possibility of getting blown out...
