The Line: Massachusetts Minutemen -16.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Massachusetts returns home and looks to bounce back after suffering a major upset to Richmond on Wednesday. That shouldn’t be a problem with its opponent being Fordham, a team that has lost six of its last seven.
The Minutemen simply couldn’t buy a basket against the Spiders, shooting under 40 percent and making only two out of 14 three-point attempts. That’s a huge difference from what they’re used to shooting, as they’re usually one of the best shooting teams in the country at 47 percent. Don’t expect a second straight poor performance from them, especially against a Fordham team that is allowing 77 points per game and teams to shoot 44.8 percent from the field.

The Rams have only won one game in the month of January, and that came in their most recent matchup against a lousy George Mason. But the schedule hasn’t exactly been a cakewalk with matchups against Richmond, Harvard, Dayton and Saint Louis. They’ve managed the schedule better than expected, covering six of the 13 games this season.
Fordham averages 75 points per game, which proves it is capable of keeping up with the Minutemen. However, majority of those points come from two guys in Jon Severe and Brandon Frazier. If either one of those players has an off night, it gets quite ugly. Considering UMass already had its off game and is returning to its home floor, you have to believe the Minutemen will get the job this time around. There’s just too much offensive firepower.
Massachusetts is 11-7 against the spread this season and has covered in four straight games played on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Rams are 0-4-1 against the spread in their last four road games.
UMass is too good of a team to let you down again.
