Georgia Tech improved to 11-8, 2-4 ACC after beating Boston College on the road 68-60 last Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets shot 52.1% from the field and a whopping 53.3% from behind the arc. Trae Golden scored 8 of his team-high 24 points in the final 2 minutes of the game and the Yellow Jackets held on after nearly blowing a big second-half lead. Kammeon Holsey added 13 points and Chris Bolden scored 11 for Georgia Tech. On the year, Golden is averaging a team-high 14.1 points and 3.3 assists per contest. Marcus Georges-Hunt is averaging 11.7 points per game, while Daniel Miller is averaging 7.7 rebounds per game for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech is averaging only 69.1 points per game while shooting 44% from the field as a team this season. The NC State Wolfpack improved to 12-7, 2-4 ACC after beating Maryland 65-56 on Monday night. NC State shot 40.4% from the field and only 26.3% from three-point range. The Wolfpack reached the free-throw line 22 times and only made 63.6% of their attempts. Ralston Turner matched his career-high with 23 points for the Wolfpack, who were playing without the ACC’s leading scorer, T.J. Warren. Desmond Lee added 14 points for the Wolfpack. On the year, Warren leads the team with 22.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Anthony Barber is averaging 11.4 points per game and averages a team-high 4.2 assists per game. The Wolfpack are averaging a mediocre 71.4 points per game while shooting a decent 46% from the field. NC State came into the game with Maryland having lost four out of their last five games. The Wolfpack will stay at home for this game; NC State has lost four games at home so far this season.
Both teams bounced back with a win early in the week after struggling to start conference play. The Yellow Jackets are fighting through some injuries right now, while the Wolfpack have struggled at home this season. This should be an evenly matched game and I think it will be decided in the final few minutes. I’m going to side with the road team and take the points.
