The Clemson Tigers travel to North Carolina to play the Tar Heels on Sunday evening.
The Clemson Tigers dropped to 13-5, 4-2 ACC after losing at Pittsburgh 76-43 on Tuesday night. The Tigers shot a lousy 32% from the field and 21.1% from behind the arc, while making only 50% of their free-throws. The Tigers, who have one of the best defenses in the country, allowed Pittsburgh to shoot 56.3% from the field on Tuesday. K.J. McDaniels led the Tigers with 11 points and 3 assists. On the season, McDaniels leads the Tigers with 16.4 points and 7 rebounds per contest. Rod Hall is averaging 9.8 points and a team-high 3.7 assists. As a team, Clemson is averaging 64.7 points per game while shooting an awful 42.6% from the field this season. Clemson is one of the best rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 38.3 boards per game. The Tigers had won five of their last six before losing on Tuesday. Clemson will stay out on the road where they are 2-3 on the season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped to 11-7, 1-4 ACC after losing at Virginia 76-61 on Monday night. The Tar Heels shot only 41.3% from the field and 26.7% from three-point range. North Carolina only reached the free-throw line 12 times and made only 41.7% of their attempts. Kennedy Meeks scored 15 points and James Michael McAdoo had 11 for North Carolina. The Tar Heels avoided the first 0-4 ACC start in team history by beating Boston College last weekend, but trailed almost throughout against the Cavaliers on Monday. On the season, Marcus Paige leads the team with 16.8 points and 4.2 assists per game. McAdoo is averaging 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels. North Carolina is averaging a solid 75.2 points per game while shooting 45.4% from the field as a team this season. The Tar Heels will head home for this game; North Carolina has already dropped three games at home this season.
Clemson did not look sharp on Tuesday, but I expect the Tigers to bounce back on the road this weekend. The Tigers rely heavily on their defense and they should have no problem slowing down the Tar Heels. North Carolina is just too inconsistent right now and they have struggled against superior defenses. I think Clemson has a great shot at winning this game and I’m going to back the Tigers on Sunday.
