John D. Millett Hall will be hopping when Miami (Ohio) hosts the first place Toledo Rockets.
If the MAC season ended today Toledo would be raising the championship banner but it's still early and many pitfalls to avoid. After opening the conference slate with a loss to Western Michigan the Rockets have ripped off five straight wins after knocking off Kent State by an 81-73. This was typical Toledo with a bunch of points with 45.6% shooting enough to overcome the Golden Flashes 48% thanks to 27 -9 edge at the line. Justin Drummond paced a balanced attack with 15 points with Julius Brown and JD Weatherspoon dropping 14 each while Rian Pearson chipped in with eleven points and ten boards.

I don't think Miami (Ohio) will be one of the elite when all is said and done in the MAC but I have to say this has been a scrappy team, win or lose. The Redhawks improved to 4-2 in the conference with win number three in a row after decisioning Bowling Green 70-65. Miami led in shooting 46.7%-42% but owned a hefty 22-9 advantage at the charity stripe that was decisive in a five point game. Will Sullivan and Willie Moore paced the offense with 16 points each while Will Felder tossed in 12 and Quinten Rollins ten. The Redhawks ran an eight man rotation with each seeing at least 17 minutes and each scoring as well.
I think Miami (Ohio) is a bit better then advertised and Toledo is better as well. I know the world will be on the Rockets and I really can't blame them especially when the world could be right. I'll take the points for now and we'll see if the Redhawks are improved...
