The Penn State Nittany Lions got a win in their last game to get their first Big Ten win of the season. PSU is 3-5 o the road this season and 0-3 against teams ranked in the top 25. D.J. Newbill leads the Nittany Lions averaging 17.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. Tim Frazier is averaging 16.5 points and 6.4 assists, Ross Travis is averaging 10.2 points and 7.3 rebounds, and Brandon Taylor is averaging 9.6 points. Penn State is averaging 75.2 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 72.6 points and their opponents are shooting 40.9 percent. Penn State sits at .500 for the year but they will be hard pressed to finish there.
Ohio State is 4-0 against the spread following a win, 0-4 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record. Penn State is 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight road games, 1-7 against the spread in their last eight Big Ten games, and 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games. The favorite has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two.
Ohio State just hasn’t been on top of their game and this is a big number so despite Penn State’s troubles I like them to cover here as the road team has in this series in 13 of the last meetings.
