The Denver Pioneers look to continue their recent hot play against visiting South Dakota State.
South Dakota State was red hot a few short weeks ago but their fortunes took a turn for the worse with losses in three of four. In the defeats the defense has struggled to support very good scoring capped by a loss to rival North Dakota State by an 85-78. Neither team stopped the other with the Jackrabbits sinking half their looks while the Bison hit at 56.5% with the key being a 23-11 edge at the foul line. Brayden Carlson led the offense with 22 points with Jordan Dykstra and and Chad White netting 17 and 16 points while Cody Larson added another 14 points.

My take on Denver is if they can get the score in to the mid 60's they are tough to handle with their ability to strangle opposing offenses. The Pioneers have done just that in winning three in a row with 67-55 victory over Western Illinois last time out. DU took a 12 point lead in to the second half and maintained their advantage until the final horn. DU fired away at almost 49% which was decisive with the Leathernecks held to 41% accuracy. Denver received 17 points and five helpers from Chris Udofia with Jalen Love and Brett Olson tossing in 15 and 14 points followed by a combined 17 points from Marcus Byrd and Bryant Rucker.
The danger in backing Denver is they tend to control the scoreboard and slow things down which sometimes keeps opponents alive. If they continue to perform as they have I see no reason they can't get the job done...
