It’s going to be a brutal matchup Thursday night when Western Illinois and Indiana-Purdue play one another in a Summit Conference showdown. The Jaguars have lost seven of their last eight, the Leathernecks have lost four of their last five.
Question is, why are you here?

To make money, of course.
Judging by the records, it would seem like both of these teams suck. You’d be right. However, the spread is close enough to a pick em that makes this a bet worth taking. Western Illinois is an offensive juggernaut that has made more than 47 percent of its shots and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc in its last three games.
Meanwhile, Indiana-Purdue has struggled from the field and is allowing teams to shoot over 50 percent in its last five games. In fact, opponents are averaging 79.6 points per game, while Indiana-Purdue is scoring just 62.2 points per game. Uh, it’s safe to say that’s a pretty large gap we have there.
To top it off, Indiana-Purdue is just 4-12 against the spread this season, while Western Illinois is 6-8. Still a losing record, but it makes me feel even more confident in this pick.
You can usually make good money on games between two teams have never heard of, and this is likely one of those games.
Take Western Illinois to cover the small chalk on the road.
