The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks hope to get in the win column when Arkansas State comes to town.
Even though Arkansas State posses a big offense and isn't known for their defensive ability I have seen some quality efforts at this end of the floor. We saw that in a 77-49 rout of rival Arkansas-Little Rock in which the lead reached 14 after 20 minutes and continued to grow until the final buzzer. The Red Wolves didn't shoot the ball well at 39% but it turned out to be inconsequential with the Trojans held to a mere 24% which was some awful shooting mixed in as well. Melvin Johnson III paced a trio of double figure scorers with 21 points followed by Kendrick Washington and Kirk Van Slyke with 16 and 15 points and a combined 19 rebounds.

I am well aware Louisiana-Monroe's 6-9 record won't impress many people but to the fans who have followed this program it is indeed a solid showing for a team that didn't win much over the past few seasons. The Warhawks struggled to score in Saturday's 66-58 defeat to visiting Georgia State who used a big second half to break open a game that was tied at the halfway mark. ULM shot the ball effectively with 48% accuracy but their ball control was sloppy with 15 turnovers that gave the 38.6% shooting Panthers eleven more looks which was decisive. Tylor Ongwae exploded for 27 points and ten rebounds with the duo of Daniel Grieves and Jayon James combining for 21 points with James grabbing seven boards and handing out five assists.
The line seems a bit off to me which scares me off a bit. Although Louisiana-Monroe is improved I think the numbers spell out this one and hoppefully it's spelled Red Wolves...
