The Line: Marshall Thundering Herd -5.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
After winning two straight at home, Florida International will take to the road and play the Marshall Thundering Herd, a team that has lost five of its last six.
The only good thing Marshall had going for it was a live offense that was averaging in the upper 70s in points per game. Now, in the last five games, it’s shooting just 37.7 percent from the field and an even worse 25.3 percent from downtown. Regardless of the competition, those numbers aren’t going to get it done on a nightly basis.

Those poor offensive performances may play into the hands of Florida International. The Panthers have been a solid defensive team for some time now, but they’ve turned it up a few notches as of late, allowing teams to shoot just 40 percent from the field and average 63.6 points per game. Senior forward Tymell Murphy is coming off one of his best games against FAU, as he finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
This game is either Florida International or no play.
Marshall is way too inconsistent to trust, and you have to like the way the Panthers have been playing defense recently. Neither team shoots the three ball well, so this game will come down to which squad forces tough shots and rebounds. Both departments favor FIU.
The Panthers are 3-2 against the spread in their last five games and are also 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 Thursday games.
FIU will win its third straight game for the first time in two months.
