The Northern Colorado Bears take their winning ways to the Stott Center to face the Portland State Vikings.
Northern Colorado is enjoying a red hot start to the Big Sky campaign with an overall record of 13-4. The succes has carried over to conference play where the Bears are 7-1 and tied for first with Weber State so there is little room for error. There wasn't any in a 72-62 decision over Sacramento State even though the Hornets connected at 47% from the floor because the 43% shooting Bears turned 24 personals in to a significant 26-10 advantage at the stripe. Tim Huskisson was the scoring leader with 18 points and five yanks while Derrick Barden tossed in 14 points and hauled in 13 rebounds followed by a 13 point effort from Jordan Wilson.

I don't know if Portland State has enough firepower to challenge for the Big Sky title buthe way they have been playing a top four finish is a more then reasonable goal. The Vikings have won four of five to even their conference record at 4-4 after outscoring visiting rival Eastern Washington 92-83 on Monday night. PSU trailed by ten after 20 minutes but turned things around with a 62 point second half. The Vikings connected at over 52% with the Eagles hitting at a not too shabby 49% but they also gave the ball away 19 times. Dre Winston Jr. was the offensive star with 23 points, six pulls and six helpers with DaShaun Wiggins next in line with 21 points. Tim Douglas added 17 while Kyle Richardson and Gary Winston netted 12 points each.
I believe Northern Colorado is a pretty good team but they have not been on the road enough to get a feel for them. I do know that I can't take them seriously until they do some positive things away from home...
