Florida International will play another road game, this time it’s a Saturday matchup against Charlotte. The Panthers have lost three of their last five and the 49ers recently ended a two-game losing streak with a win over Florida Atlantic.
The Panthers were playing solid basketball this week until it allowed Marshall to shoot better than 50 percent from the field and drop 80 points. That’s not FIU basketball, as they’ve held teams to 43.3 percent shooting and just barely 71 points per game on the season. As long as they win the rebounding margin and keep teams in check offensively, they have a chance to beat anybody in the C-USA.

Of course, it helps when Tymell Murphy is playing well. The senior forward scored 29 points in the loss to Marshall.
The 49ers bounced back against FAU like I knew they would, but they’re still playing a little shaky. Teams are still shooting 45 percent against them in their last five games, and it doesn’t help when the free throw percentage has dipped to 62.9 percent.
I expect Charlotte to win this game, but the spread is simply too much. FIU isn’t a bad basketball team and plays defense well enough to keep this one close. Charlotte is just 3-3 against the spread at home and the Panthers have played plenty of road games this season against much together competition.
I’ll take Florida International and the points.
