The Georgetown Hoyas and the Michigan State Spartans face off on Saturday in Madison Square Garden in college basketball action.
The Georgetown Hoyas are struggling badly losing their last five games. Georgetown is 0-3 against teams ranked in the top 25 and 2-2 in neutral site games while playing the 22nd ranked schedule so far this season. D’Vauntes Smith Rivera leads the Hoyas in scoring averaging 17.1 points per game. Markel Starks is averaging 16.4 points and Mikael Hopkins is averaging 6.8 points. Georgetown is averaging 71.2 points per game and they are shooting 46.4 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 67.3 points and their opponents are shooting 39.6 percent. Georgetown has been one of the more disappointing teams in the nation.

The Michigan State Spartans bounced back from their loss to Michigan by beating Iowa on the road on Tuesday. MSU is 10-0 away from home this season and they are ranked seventh in the nation. Gary Harris is averaging 18.3 points per game to lead the Spartans. Keith Appling is averaging 15.4 points, Denzel Valentine is averaging 7.5 points and 5.9 rebounds, and Travis Trice is averaging 7.0 points. Michigan State is averaging 79.2 points and they are shooting 47.5 percent from the field while defensively they are allowing 64.9 points and their opponents are shooting 38.1 percent. It is already clear the Michigan State is going to be a factor when March Madness rolls around.
Georgetown is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Michigan State is 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games, 3-1-2 against the spread in their last six neutral start games, and 0-4 against the spread against the Big East.
My free pick in this game is going to be on the total which at 133 seems agressively low but I still see it staying under. My stronger play is on who will cover the point spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as the App.
