Storyline: Gonzaga eyes six straight victories when they visit San Francisco at War Memorial Gymnasium Saturday.
The Breakdown: The Zags sit atop the WCC, improving to 9-1 with a narrow 54-52 victory over Santa Clara Wednesday when senior C Sam Dower drained a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs struggled from the field, connecting on just 16 of 46 to the Broncos’ 18 of 50, but shot more accurately from outside the arc at 41.7 percent to Santa Clara’s 27.8 percent. Gonzaga also conceded a slight 33-32 advantage on the boards, but hit 17 of 19 from the free throw line. Junior G Gary Bell scored a game-high 15 points, including 3 of 7 from distance, Dower finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds, and sophomore C Przemek Karnowski added 11 points and 8 rebounds. On the season, the Bulldogs rank 29th nationally with 79.5 ppg and 3rd with a 50.8 shooting percentage. Junior G Kevin Pangos leads the team with 15.7 ppg, followed by Dower at 14.4 ppg.

Meanwhile, San Francisco is in second place in the conference with a record of 7-3 and comes in off an 84-71 victory over Portland Wednesday for its third straight. The Dons topped Portland from the floor 56.3 percent to 49.1 percent, but hit 7 of 16 from outside the arc to Pilots the 9 of 13. San Francisco came away with a 32-24 advantage on the boards and forced 11 turnovers. Senior F Cole Dickerson had a game-high 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting, junior F Kruze Pinkins had 20 points and 7 rebounds, and sophomore G Avry Holmes added 15 points. Through 22 games, the Dons are averaging 77.7 ppg on 48.6 percent shooting. Dickerson leads the team with 14.9 ppg, followed by Cody Doolin at 13.0 ppg.
