The Broncos topped the Peacocks from the field 46.6 percent to 34.8 percent and connected on 13 of 24 from outside the arc to 7 of 24 from St. Peter’s. Rider also finished with a 40-23 advantage on the boards. Meanwhile, Fairfield suffered its fourth consecutive loss to Canisius Saturday in an 84-58 thrashing, dropping to 1-10 for last place in the conference. The Stags struggled from the floor, connecting on 22 of 66 and just 9 of 37 from outside the arc to the Golden Griffins 43.5 percent from the floor and 5 of 17 from distance. Fairfield finished deadlocked o the boards 44-44 with Canisius, but converted just 5 of 13 from the foul line and committed 19 turnovers. Sophomore F Marcus Gilbert scored a team-high 14 points to go with 7 rebounds and junior G Steve Johnston added 12 points off the bench. Through 22 games, the Stags are averaging 61.1 ppg. Gilbert leads the team with 13.4 ppg, followed by senior F Maurice Barrow at 12.4 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -7.5 for Rider. These two haven’t hooked up yet, but Rider’s been looking good lately, avenging an 8 point loss to St. Peters earlier in the season with an 18-point dismantling of the Peacocks last time out. Look for the Broncos to cover.
