The North Carolina Tar Heels improved to 14-7, 4-4 ACC after beating North Carolina State at home 84-70 on Saturday. On the season, Marcus Paige leads the Tar Heels with 16.7 points per game and 4.4 assists per game. James Michael McAdoo averages 15 points per game and team-high 6.7 rebounds per contest. North Carolina averages 76 points per game while shooting 45.5% from the field. The Tar Heels are one of the best rebounding teams in the country, averaging 41.3 boards per game. North Carolina has won three straight games after dropping four out of five to start 2014. The Tar Heels will stay home for this matchup where they have won three straight contests.
The Tar Heels are playing more energized and seem to be coming together as a team in the past two weeks. Maryland looked good on Saturday but that was against lousy Virginia Tech. I think Maryland will hang tough in this game and while North Carolina may win, I think the Terps will cover the spread.
