The Miami (OH) Redhawks look to get a conference win as they visit DeKalb and the Northern Illinois Huskies Tuesday night at 7PM on ESPN3.
Miami sits at 9-10 and 5-3 in conference play after getting their 3rd win in their past 4 contests with a 65-51 victory over Eastern Michigan this past weekend. The Redhawks starting 5 was the big difference in this one as Will Sullivan had 19 and 4 assists and Will Felder shined down low with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Jaryd Eustace had 9 points and was disruptive with 3 steals on the defensive end and Miami racked up 5 steals for the contest. On offense, the Redhawks were efficient enough shooting the ball just 43% from the field but 81% at the line with 15 team assists. Miami was a little sloppy at times but got buckets on key possessions late.

Northern Illinois is 9-11 on the year and made it two straight exciting victories as they escaped Ball State 67-65 in OT. Northern Illinois erased an 8 point deficit at the half and pulled it close late to force OT before Travon Baker made 1 of 2 free throws late to give Northern Illinois lead before a Ball State 3 rimmed out at the buzzer. Aaric Armstead combined for 27 points with Jordan Threloff. Northern Illinois trailed by as many as 15 in the second half before rallying -- the win moves Northern Illinois to 3-5 in conference as their confidence continues to build.
On paper, these two teams are pretty evenly matched. I think Miami is a bit more experiences and I like the Redhawks to get another huge game down low for Will Felder as they move to 6-3 in conference play and continue to hang around the regular season title conversation in the MAC.
