The Line: Towson Tigers -7.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The road doesn’t get any easier for James Madison with the Dukes having to go back on the road to play the Towson Tigers. The Dukes have lost five of their last seven and the Tigers have won seven of their last nine.
James Madison just lost a heartbreaker to William & Mary Sunday afternoon. Despite coming back from being down 11 points in the first half, the Dukes couldn’t pull it out in the end, losing as the final shot refused to go down. Usually a solid defensive team, the Dukes have been anything but in their last five games. They’re allowing teams to shoot 48 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from downtown. Meanwhile, they’re only making 40.6 percent of their shots and 28.6 percent of their long balls.

One team that hasn’t had any defensive issues is Towson. It gives up just 67.9 points per game and holds teams under 40 percent shooting. The Tigers have prided themselves on defense all season and it’s paid off in a big way. But the offense has also been clicking recently with senior forward Jerrelle Benimon scoring at least 20 points in eight of his last 10 games.
James Madison is 7-10-1 against the spread and 6-5-1 on the road, while Towson is 7-7 against the spread and 4-3 at home. There’s no clear advantage on either side but James Madison has lost every big game it’s played this season and is now starting to lose games it shouldn’t. With Towson’s defense and the 11-1 SU home record, you must go with the Tigers.
The home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
I’ll take the better defensive team at home and the medium sized chalk.
