The Line: Evansville Purple Aces -1.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Evansville will return home after two straight road losses and host a Missouri State team that has won three of its last four. The Purple Aces have been in a bit of a funk, losing four of their last six games.
Missouri State is a fun team to watch with its up-tempo style of play. It averages 72.8 points per game on the season and is shooting 50.2 percent from the field during its last five games. The problem is it doesn’t play much defense, allowing teams to score 71.1 points per game and teams to shoot above 45 percent from the field. It’s a team that simply hopes to make a couple more shots than its opponent, which may not be the best recipe against an equally explosive Evansville squad.

Evansville shoots 46.8 percent on the season and 39 percent from downtown. It is averaging 71 points per game and has one of the best players in the Missouri Valley Conference in D.J. Balentine. He’s scored a combined 93 points in his last three games. Defensively, the Purple Aces are a lot like Missouri State, allowing teams to score 73 points and shoot nearly 45 percent from the field.
Can you say over?
You’re likely going to see a lot of fireworks considering neither team can play defense all that well. Against the spread, Missouri State is 8-8, while Evansville is 9-8-1. Really not that much of a difference, however, the Bears are 2-7-1 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Purple Aces.
Evansville is at home and will have the best player on the court. Give me the Purple Aces and the tiny chalk.
