The Line: Old Dominion Monarchs -12.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Old Dominion will welcome a struggling Texas-San Antonio team to the Constant Convocation Center Thursday night in hopes of snapping a two-game skid. The Roadrunners haven’t been much better with losses in four of their last five games.
A lot of Texas-San Antonio’s troubles are now coming from the offensive end. It’s a team that’s shooting 43.9 percent from the field and averaging 71 points per game. However, in the Roadrunners last five games they’re shooting just 39.9 percent from the field and scoring less than 70 points. Of course, the defense hasn’t been any better, as they’re allowing teams to drop more than 80 points and shoot nearly 50 percent from the field on the season. That would explain the 4-8 against the spread record.

The Monarchs are also having a hard time putting the ball in the hoop. They’re averaging just 64.7 points per game and only scored 48 in a loss to Middle Tennessee State on Saturday. In their last five games they’re shooting 41.1 percent from the field and a horrible 58.3 percent from the free throw line. This is the type of game that has under written all over it.
But if we’re looking at the spread, Old Dominion has at least shown signs of life throughout the season and is 10-9 against the number this season. Meanwhile, Texas-San Antonio is 1-5 ATS on the road and 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games.
I’d wait for the total to come out to see if the under looks like a tasty pick. But if you can’t wait that long, picking the Monarchs is the only way to go.
It’s a team that’s hungry for a victory and at least tries to play defense.
