The Pacific Tigers make the short trip to Pepperdine for a WCC showdown with the Waves Thursday night at 10PM.
Pacific’s strong start to their season seems like a distant memory now as the Tigers have struggled to find their footing in conference play and currently sit at 3-7 in the competitive West Coast Conference. Pacific was able to get off the snide this past weekend with a road victory at San Diego 84-67. Four players scored in double figures for the Tigers with Andrew Bock and Trevin Harris’s 16 a piece leading the way. Pacific was a red hot 54.7% from the floor for the game and added to their efficient play with 18-21 shooting from the FT line. Pacific also won the battle of the boards with a 34-22 edge.

Pepperdine has seen similar struggles as Pacific this season but the Waves never teased onlookers with the hot start that Pacific ran out to. Instead, the Waves have been consistently inconstant but find themselves at 6-5 in conference play and not too far off contending for a solid tournament seed. The Waves broke a two game losing streak that had dropped them to .500 in conference play with a 80-69 win against Loyola Marymount this past weekend. Brendan Lane and Jett Raines set the tone up front for the Waves, combining for 25 points and 16 boards as the Waves pulled away late for the win.
These two teams met under two weeks ago with the Tigers taking the 10 point win at home. They both are evenly matched but I like Pepperdine’s frontcourt play and their home court advantage to be the differences here as the Waves get the late cover and move to 7-5 in conference play with the win at home.
