The Line: Canisius Golden Griffins -3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
One of the better college basketball games on Friday night is going to be a matchup between Manhattan and Canisius. They are two of the better teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The Jaspers have lost three of their last five games and it has a lot to do with an offense that hasn’t been explosive as it has this season. Shooting 42.9 percent and averaging 77.2 points per game on the season, the Jaspers are shooting just 41.6 percent and averaging 71.6 points in their last five games. They’re also shooting just 32.2 percent from beyond the arc, which is a drop off of their season average of 34.3 percent. These little things add up considering two of those three recent losses were decided by four points.
USA TODAY Sports
The Golden Griffins have won four straight and are playing their best basketball offensively. In their last five games, they’re averaging 83.4 points and shooting 48.6 percent from the field. That even includes above 81 percent from the charity stripe. Even the defense has improved, as opponents are only knocking down 29.3 percent of their three-point attempts.
Against the spread Manhattan is 8-10-2 and Canisius is an impressive 13-6, which includes a 4-1 ATS record in its last five games. The Golden Griffins are playing much better basketball, shooting lights out and hold an 8-0 straight up record at home. Meanwhile, the Jaspers are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against the Metro Atlantic Athletic and have lost their last three road games SU.
This game will be nationally televised, which means the Golden Griffins will look to put on a show in front of their home fans. I’ll take the home team and the small chalk.
