The Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in SEC college basketball.
The Florida Gators are simply red hot as they have reeled off nine wins in their first nine SEC games. Florida is 13-0 at home this season and they are ranked third in the nation. Casey Prather continues to lead the Gators averaging 15.7 points and 5.1 rebounds. Michael Frazier II is averaging 12.6 points, Scottie Wilbekin is averaging 12.4 points, and Patric Young is averaging 10.7 points and 6.6 rebounds. Florida is averaging 71.1 points and they are shooting 45.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 57.4 points and their opponents are shooting 38.4 percent. Chris Walker has been reinstated for the Gators and saw only seven minutes of action last game but he could have an increasing role.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have lost three games in a row and are 3-6 in SEC play this season. Alabama is 0-9 away from home this season and they have played the second toughest schedule in the nation. Trevor Releford is averaging 18 points per game to lead the Crimson Tide. Retin Obasohan is averaging 11.3 points, Levi Randolph is averaging 8.6 points, and Nick Jacobs is averaging 8.4 points. Alabama is averaging 68.8 points and they are shooting 44.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.6 points and their opponents are shooting 42 percent. Alabama has played a rough schedule but they have been unable to surprise anyone.
Florida is 5-1-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record, and 4-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Alabama is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games, 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games, and 1-3-1 against the spread against a team with a winning percentage better than .600. Alabama has covered the point spread in six of their last seven games at Florida.
This is a big number but the Gators are looking that strong and while I don’t love the play my pick here is Florida.
