The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan Wolverines face off on Saturday in Big Ten college basketball.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have lost three of their last five games and they sit at 6-4 in Big Ten play. Iowa is 11-2 at home this season but they are 0-4 against teams ranked in the top 25. Roy Devyn Marble is averaging 16 points and he is the Hawkeyes leading scorer. Aaron White is averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds, Jarrod Uthoff is averaging 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, and Melsahn Basabe is averaging 7.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. Iowa is averaging 83.7 points and they are shooting 47.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.1 points and their opponents shoot 38.6 percent. Iowa has shown they can win games but they haven’t had any success in the big games.

The Michigan Wolverines bounced back from their first Big Ten loss of the season by smashing Nebraska by 29 points. Michigan is 9-1 in the Big 10, 7-4 away from home, and 2-3 against teams ranked in the top 25. Nik Stauskas is the Wolverines leading scorer averaging 17.3 points per game. Glenn Robinson III is averaging 13.6 points, Caris LeVert is averaging 12.2 points, and Derrick Walton Jr. is averaging 8.7 points. Michigan is averaging 76.1 points and they are shooting 48.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.7 points and their opponents are shooting 43.3 percent. Michigan has gotten better as the season has gone on.
Iowa is 12-4 against the spread against the Big Ten, 8-1 against the spread following a loss, and 37-16 in their last 53 home games. Michigan is 12-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 games, 5-2 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 7-3 against the spread following a win. The home team has covered the point spread in nine of the last 11 meetings of these two.
We have yet to see Iowa get it done in big games even at home and I don’t see this one ending differently.
