It seems that each and every year Gonzaga basketball is ranked and knocking off teams in convincing fashion. That hasn't changed as the Bulldogs have seven in a row with their ability to score and defend. Not every win is a rout as opponents are giving the Zags their best shot which we saw in a 71-66 victory over Portland who had won the first match up. Gonzaga led by 18 after 20 minutes before the Pilots came back to make it interesting. The home team won the shooting battle 46.5%-43% but the real difference was at the stripe where the Zags led 22-10. David Stockton, Kevin Pangos and Angel Nunez scored 13 points each with Sam Dower adding ten.

I think there is something to be said for Memphis with their 7-3 conference mark and third place standing as the AAC is extremely top heavy. The top 25 offense that averages almost 81 points gets most of the headlines and stole the show once again in a 101-69 demolition of visiting Rutgers with a 35 point lead going to the locker room ended this from a competitive stand point. The Tigers did not miss often on 59% marksmanship whil the D limited the Scarlet Knights to 41% from the floor while forcing 17 turnovers. Austin Nichols led six DD scorers with 18 points with Joe Jackson and Michael Dixon Jr. tossing in 16 and 15 points. Shaq Goodwin was next in line with 13 points while Geron Johnson and Chris Crawford netted 12 points each with Crawford posting eleven rebounds.
Memphis is better then any of the teams Gonzaga will face in the WCC and to be honest the Bulldogs have not great against this competition. I'll look deeper in to this but if either lay an egg here I don't want to here talk of them being ranked...
