The Cincinnati Bearcats put their unbeaten conference mark on the line when they travel to Southern Methodist on Saturday.
If you haven't heard about the suffocating defense that Cincinnati puts on the floor you probably live under a rock because they are the real deal. This unit was put to the test against visiting Connecticut on Thursday and eventually wore the Huskies down in a 63-58 victory. UConn was in good shape with a five point lead after 20 minutes but Cincy shot the ball better at 46%-39% which proved to be decisive with three more field goals. Sean Kilpatrick continued to light it up with 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists with Justin Jackson adding 15 points and six boards.

Southern Methodist is in the midst of a solid season providing they can keep the good times rolling. The Mustangs continued to roll with a 75-52 decision over visiting Temple on Thursday as the defense put the clamps on a dangerous offensive club. The offense wasn't too shabby either with 46% from the floor leading to a 12 point margin at the half which slowly grew over the final 20 minutes. The D allowed only 30% shooting to a team that can score in bunches but the Owls were no match for the Mustangs five DD scorers. Markus Kennedy and Shawn Williams paced the attack with 14 points each with Kennedy grabbing nine boards while Nic Moore and Keith Frazier added 11 points apiece followed a ten point effort from Ben Moore.
Cincinnati just might be the 900 pound gorilla of the AAC so trying to pick a spot to go against them isn't going to be easy. The Bearcats getting points at Southern Methodist doesn't seem right although the Mustangs are solid everywhere...
