Storyline: 19th-ranked Oklahoma State looks to put the brakes on a three-game slide when they visit slumping Texas Tech Saturday.
The Breakdown: The Cowboys dropped to 4-5 for 7th place in the Big 12 after their third straight loss in a 98-87 triple overtime thriller against Iowa State Monday. Ok State topped the Cyclones from the floor 48.6 percent to 43.6 percent, but struggled from outside the arc, connecting on 4 of 15 to Iowa State’s 10 of 33. The Cowboys also conceded a 47-42 rebounding advantage committed 12 turnovers. Junior G Le’Bryan Nash scored a team-high 26 points to go with boards and 5 assists, sophomore G Marcus Smart had 20 points and 7 rebounds, and senior G Markel Brown added 19 points and 10 rebounds. On the season, Ok State is averaging 83.8 ppg on 47.7 percent shooting. Smart leads the team with 17.3 ppg, followed by Brown at 17.0 ppg.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday with a 60-54 victory over TCU, improving to 3-6 for 8th place in the conference. The Red Raiders connected on 24 of 51 from the field and just 1 of 16 from outside the arc to the Horned Frogs’ 18 of 40 from the floor and 7 of 14 from downtown. Tech was outrebounded 26-24, but forced 20 turnovers. Senior F Dejan Kravic scored a team-high 18 points to go with 6 boards, senior F Jaye Crockett had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and sophomore G Dusty Hannahs added 11 points off the bench. Through 22 games, the Red Raiders are averaging 72.0 ppg on 46.6 percent shooting. Crockett leads the team with 14.4 ppg, followed by junior F Jordan Tolbert at 11.1 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -4.5 for Ok State and although both these teams have dropped their last three, the Cowboys are even more desperate to avoid a freefall. Remember, this is a team that was ranked 6th in the nation a month ago. Look for Ok State to cover.
