The Wyoming Cowboys will take their act on the road Saturday night when they play the UNLV Rebels. This will be the first and only meeting this season, but these teams are very familiar with one another considering they’ve played five times since 2012.
The Cowboys have been a little shaky recently, losing two of their last three games, but they’re still one of the better teams in the Mountain West. They shoot a lights out percentage at 48.9 percent and hold teams to just 61 points per game. They’re really a balanced ball club that may have lost eight games, but five of those games were decided by five or less points. They’re 12-6-1 against the spread and 5-3-1 ATS on the road.
The Rebels have won four of their last five games but are coming off of a road loss to Colorado State. They only shoot 43.5 percent from the field, but get plenty of second chance shots due to averaging 41 rebounds. They’re also pretty good defensively, holding teams to 64.6 points per game on 39.4 percent shooting. They are 14-8-1 against the spread and 8-6-1 ATS at home.
This game should be fun to watch and it could really go either way. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wyoming won the game SU. Both teams pride themselves on the defensive side of the ball, which means every possession is going to matter and it’s likely going to come down to the final minutes.
With that said, give me the points. As mentioned, Wyoming doesn’t lose in blowout fashion very often. It’s also 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games against teams with a winning SU record.
Feel confident in taking the road dog in this Mountain West showdown.
