The Clemson Tigers travel to Syracuse to play the Orange on Sunday night.
The Clemson Tigers improved to 15-6, 6-3 ACC after beating Georgia Tech 45-41 on Tuesday night. On the season, K.J. McDaniels is averaging a team-high 16.3 points and 7 rebounds per game. Rod Hall is averaging a second-best 9 points per game, while also averaging a team-high 3.8 assists per contest. The Tigers are not a great offensive team, averaging only 63 points per game while shooting only 41.8% from the field as a team this season. However, Clemson is one of the best defensive teams in the ACC and the country this season. The Tigers have held six of their ACC opponents to 60 or less points this season. Clemson is a great rebounding team, averaging 37.6 rebounds per game this season. Clemson has played well in conference play and after losing two straight games to Pittsburgh and UNC they have bounced back to win two games against FSU and now Georgia Tech. The Tigers will hit the road where they are 3-4 on the season.

The Syracuse Orange improved to 22-0, 9-0 ACC after beating Notre Dame 61-55 on Monday night. On the season, C.J. Fair leads Syracuse with a team-high 16.7 points per game along with averaging 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Trevor Cooney is averaging 14.1 points per game, while Tyler Ennis is averaging a team-high 5.7 assists per game. Ennis has evolved into one of the best freshman in the country and he has shown great leadership for this Syracuse squad. The Orange are averaging 71.8 points per game while shooting 46% from the field this season. Syracuse is a good rebounding team, averaging 35.7 boards per game. The Orange remain unbeaten and survived a letdown spot against Notre Dame after beating Duke in overtime last weekend. Syracuse will stay at home for their third straight game before heading out on the road for a big matchup with Pittsburgh next week.
I think this will be a low scoring, hard fought battle against two teams that can play excellent defense and sometimes struggle to score the basketball. Clemson will struggle against the Syracuse zone, considering the Tigers are not a good perimeter shooting team. The Orange should have some problems against the size and physicality of the Tigers front court. I think this game will finish in the 110-120’s and Syracuse will remain unbeaten when the game is over, but Clemson will cover.
