The San Diego State Aztecs look for their 21st straight victory when they take on the Wyoming Cowboys.
The Aztecs are 10-0 in conference play and have really established themselves as a possible Final Four team. They average 73.4 points per game on offense, but it’s the defense that allows just 56.6 points on 38.7 percent shooting that really makes the difference. They have had a few issues on the road, as their last two road games have come down to the wire, however, they are 7-0 SU and are 8-2 ATS away from home. Senior guard Xavier Thames has scored in the double figures in eight of his last nine games.
USA TODAY Sports
Wyoming has lost two of its last three games, with all three being decided by five points or less. It’s a team that’s very similar to San Diego State given the fact it prides itself on defense. The Cowboys hold teams to just 60.6 points per game on 40.7 percent shooting. In fact, they haven’t allowed a 70-point performance in eight straight games. Offensively they average 65.8 points per game on 48.8 percent shooting. They’re 13-6-1 ATS and 7-3 ATS on their home court.
Both of these teams have been money making machines all season long. However, San Diego State has won all but one of its big games this season, while Wyoming tends to fold and find ways to lose against tougher competition. The Aztecs are not only 51- ATS in their last six games, but they’ve also covered in six of their last seven games against the Cowboys.
Wyoming is a great defensive team and should be up to play just its second ranked team of the season, but San Diego State is a championship caliber squad that is on the mission. Covering a small number shouldn’t be difficult.
I’ll take the small chalk.
