New Mexico and Boise State will meet for the second time this season on Wednesday. The Lobos have won six straight games and the Broncos are experiencing three straight losses.
When these teams met just a couple of weeks ago, New Mexico won the game pretty convincingly, 84-75.

Boise State for whatever reason can’t put games away. It lost back-to-back games to UNLV and San Diego State after having huge leads in both. The Broncos also recently lost to Utah State after hanging with the Aggies until the final minutes. They’re just not mentally tough and that’s the reason for the losses. They’re also allowing teams to shoot 49.3 percent from the field in their last five games. They are 6-13 ATS this season and 2-7 ATS at home.
New Mexico is playing its best basketball of the season during the last week or so. During their winning streak, the Lobos are shooting 47.6 percent from the field, while holding teams to just 38.2 percent shooting. They’re winning games by an average of 11 points. They are 8-10 ATS and 5-5 ATS on the road.
Boise State is a tough place to play and the Broncos are certainly capable of playing great basketball. But the lack of being able to finish games and the poor defense forces me to pick New Mexico.
Not only are the Lobos the better team, but we’re getting points on top of it. New Mexico is 5-1 ATS in its last six games and is 5-0 ATS in its last five games against Boise State. Meanwhile, the Broncos have yet to beat New Mexico SU and is 0-4 ATS in their last four games.
The wrong team is favored in this game, but we’re not complaining.
Take New Mexico with a great deal of confidence.
