The South Florida Bulls head north up the east coast to take the floor with the Connecticut Huskies.

South Florida hasn't had much to cheer about once the conference schedule began although they appeared to have begun a turnaround with wins in two of three sandwiched around a five point loss to Cincinnati. The Bulls appeared to be finally heading in the right direction before a 79-69 loss to visiting Rutgers on Saturday said maybe not. The Bulls connected at 43% from the floor but the Scarlet Knights 47% shooting and a few more free throws carried the day. The USF offense received 17 points from Martino Brock with Victor Rudd adding 15 points and seven boards followed bt the duo of John Egbunu and Chris Perry and a combined 21 points.

Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

Connecticut bounced back from a narrow loss versus Cincinnati with a bang as they hung a 75-55 loss on Central Florida on the road. The Huskies ability to score and defend was highlighted in this one with a 17 point lead in the first half putting the Knights on their heels the rest of the way. The UConn attack was rock steady with nearly 48% shooting with the defense limiting South Florida to only 39% accuracy while forcing 18 turnovers. UCF miscues and 14 offensive rebounds had a hand in 12 more looks at the basket for the better shooting team. Lasan Kromah and Shabazz Napier led the big scoring night with 17 points and seven pulls apiece followed by a 16 point, seven board effort from DeAndre Daniels while Ryan Boatright and Phillip Nolan combined for 21 points.

I thought South Florida was about to go on a mini run before losing to Rutgers while Connecticut is playing well. I'm inclined to back the Huskies who can't afford to lose despite the huge spread...
