The Rhode Island Rams will take their three-game losing streak on the road against the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers have won three straight and are starting to play the way we thought they would in the beginning of the season.
The Rams just don’t know how to finish games as they had UMass on the ropes and still lost the game 73-68. They average just 67.4 points per game on 43.1 percent shooting, but they rebound the ball well at 37 per contest and play solid defense, holding opponents to 68.4 points. E.C. Matthews continues to make a case for Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, as he’s scored at least 20 points in three of his last four games. The Rams are 10-9 against the spread and 6-5 ATS on the road.

Dayton has beaten up on some poor competition, but wins are wins at this point in the season. They continue to be a scoring machine that averages 75 points on 47.6 percent shooting, while the defense allows 68.3 points on 44.3 percent shooting. The Flyers are 12-8 against the spread and 4-5 ATS at home.
These teams met a couple of weeks ago and Rhode Island won 88-76. But the game was played in Rhode Island, where the Rams have been tough all season. It’s the road that have given them issues as they are 2-9 SU away from home.
Dayton is playing much better basketball and is 4-0 ATS in its last four games against teams with a losing SU record. I’m not sure the Rams have enough offensive firepower to keep up, and the crowd at the University of Dayton Arena should be enough to help the Flyers finish the job.
I’ll take the better team at home and the chalk.
