UNC Greensboro and Georgia Southern will duke it out Thursday night in a battle in the Southern standings. These teams played each other a couple of weeks ago and Georgia Southern won 64-62.
The Spartans have lost five of their last six games and it really comes down to a lack of defense, as they’re allowing 73.4 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting. Offensively they average 70.8 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting, but they haven’t clipped the 70-point mark in four straight contests. On the road they shoot just 40.2 percent from the field and average 61.8 points per game. The Spartans are 2-7 SU and 5-7 ATS on the road this season.

The Eagles have lost two straight and five of their last seven games. A once decent offense that averaged 72.4 points is now averaging 63.8 points on 41.1 percent shooting in their last five games. At home they average 75.4 points and shoot above 36 percent from beyond the arc. Defensively on the season they allow 72.4 points. They are 7-3 SU and 2-3 ATS at home.
Neither one of these teams has a winning record against the spread and they’re both playing lousy basketball. I’d advise you to take your wagering elsewhere on Wednesday. But if you insist, the best bet is to ride Georgia Southern at home. It’s a team that already beat UNC Greensboro this year and has actually won the last three meetings.
It shoots the ball fairly well on its home court, and the Spartans have lost their last three road games.
There’s not enough chalk to steer me away from this pick. I’ll take the home team in this brutal matchup.
