The Line: College of Charleston Cougars -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Drexel Dragons will look to keep things rolling when they go on the road to play the Charleston Cougars Thursday night. The Dragons have won two straight games, while the Cougars have lost two straight.
The Dragons are coming off wins over North Carolina-Wilmington and James Madison. In their most recent win over the Dukes, they shot 54.7 percent from the field and knocked down 46.7 percent of their threes. While the offense has stepped its game up recently, it’s the defense that continues to pave the way for success, as the Dragons are holding opponents to just 65.4 points on 44.8 percent shooting in their last five games. Those averages are very similar on the road as well. Drexel is 10-11-1 ATS this season and 9-4 ATS on the road.

The Cougars have put a damper on such a solid start to their season, losing four of their last five games. During that stretch they’re scoring just 62.2 points and shooting 64.3 percent from the free throw line. Its defense that holds teams to just 63.3 points per game on the season has kept them in games. In fact, three of their last four losses have been decided by one possession or needed overtime. The Cougars are 9-13 ATS and 3-6 ATS at home.
With the way both teams struggle to shoot the ball, the under may be worth a serious look. However, as far as the spread is concerned, I have to go with the Cougars. They play lockdown defense that gets even better at home, holding teams to 40.6 percent from the field. Drexel has also lost four of its last six road games SU.
I know the Dragons have been covering machines on the road, but the small number isn’t worth investing in. The Cougars defense should be enough for them to get a rare win and cover the spread.
