The Montana Grizzlies and Northern Colorado Bears fight for second place in the Big Sky.
The Big Sky has been Montana's to win or lose over the past few years and it might be that way soon if the Grizzlie continue to improve from an ordinary start. Their calling card has been scoring with the defense showing signs of coming together. The offense carried the day in an 82-77 decision over visiting Eastern Washington behind 45% marksmanship including a 10-24 performance from beyond the arc. The Eagles countered with 39% from the floor and a 24-30 mark from the stripe to stay competitive. Kareem Jamar paced the attack with 23 points with Jordan Gregory and Keron DeShields adding 14 and 13 points while Michael Weisner chipped in with eleven.

Northern Colorado is part of the log jam in the battle for second in the Big Sky that features four teams locked in with 7-5 records. The schedule hasn't been kind to the Bears with four consecutive road contests that all went in to the loss column. A 79-65 defeat at the hands of first place Weber State capped off the slide where both ends of the floor struggled. The Wildcats fired away at 53% including 12 bombs while UNC countered with 38% from the floor which fell short despite 15 extra looks at the basket. Tate Unruh shouldered the offense with 18 points including 4-9 on threes while Derrick Barden added eleven with Jordan Wilson and Tim Huskisson netting nine points each.
Even though these teams appear to be heading in opposite directions the road is not a good place to be in the Big Sky. Montana will have to be at their best here to cover which I'm hoping for as I find the points tempting...
