St. John’s looks to continue their late season resurgence with a road trip to face the Seton Hall Pirates Thursday at 9PM on Fox Sports one.

The Red Storm got their best win of the year this past weekend as they defeated 18th ranked Creighton at home 70-65.  The win marked their second straight strong win after a road victory at Providence a few days before.  The Red Storm did not shoot the ball very well as a team (42% and 25% from deep) but their defensive intensity was the difference as they shut down Creighton’s offense outside of McDermott.  D’Angelo Harrison had 19 and 5 and Rysheed Jordan chipped in 7 assists for the Red Storm, who only turned the ball over 7 times on the night.

Seton Hall Pirates vs. St. John's Red Storm Pick-Odds-Prediction 2/13/14

Seton Hall sits at 13-11 on the year and find themselves 4-7 in conference play after being defeated by an average Marquette team at home this past weekend 77-66.  The Pirates were trailing for most all of this contest and the Golden Eagles put together their best offensive outing in quite sometime against the Pirates vulnerable defense.  Sterling Gibbs was about the only bright spot for the Pirates -- the junior guard scored 12 points and added 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Brian Oliver led the Pirates in scoring with 15 points but was completely one dimensional -- finishing with just 1 rebound and 0 assists -- unacceptable stats at the forward position.

The Pirates have been struggling for a few weeks now and have been especially sub par at home, where they have had little home court advantage.  St. John’s is really starting to play well, despite still not having much of an offensive identity.  I like the Red Storm’s strong defensive presence of late to be the difference here as the Red Storm get the late win and cover in what should be an ugly, low scoring affair.
