The North Dakota State Bison look to avoid the upset bid of the Western Illinois Leathernecks Thursday.
North Dakota State is top gun in the Summit at 7-2 but their grip is shaky with just a game separating them them from fourth. Although the Bison have gone 3-1 over the past four outings their hich powered offense has not reached 70 points and that has produced some sluggish performances. NDSU comes in off of a 69-58 decision over visiting Fort Wayne in one of their better efforts with 48% marksmanship carrying the offense while the defense held the Mastodons to 39% from the floor and forced 16 turnovers leading to eight more shots. TrayVonn Wright led the scoring with 15 points and six yanks with Taylor Braun and Kory Brown adding 14 and 13 points followed by Lawrence Alexander with eleven.

Western Illinois lost some talent from a season ago which is reflected in thier record although the way they go about their business hasn't changed in that controlling the pace and scoreboard is priority number one. That didn't happen at Nebraska-Omaha and a 71-60 defeat was the result with the Mavericks 42.6% from the field enough to get the job done with the Leathernecks struggling to 32.7%. The difference was six more makes from the field in a mistake filled contest that featured a combined 34 turnovers. Garret Covington carried the offense with 21 points and six boards followed by Jabari Sandifer with another 14 points and five boards while Michael Ochereobia and Adam Link combined for 17 points and 14 rebounds.
I have watched North Dakota State closely the past few weeks and to be honest they have really disappointed, enough for me to question how they are in first. No way would I trust them to cover on the road so take this with a grain of salt because Western Illinois is no prize...
