Storyline: TCU looks for its first Big 12 victory of the season against first place Kansas Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.
The Breakdown: The Horned Frogs dropped to 0-11 in the conference after suffering a 91-58 trouncing against Baylor Wednesday, remaining in last place with less than half the season left. TCU shot 40.0 percent from the floor and connected on 4 of 14 from outside the arc to the Bears’ 53.4 percent from the field and 16 of 27 from distance. The Frogs also conceded a whopping 45-18 advantage on the boards and committed 13 turnovers. Kansas, meanwhile, remained in first place in the Big 12 at 9-2 after losing an overtime thriller 85-82 at Kansas State Monday. The Jayhawks were outshot from the field 49.2 percent to 41.8 percent and from distance 53.3 percent to 17.6 percent. Kansas finished with a 43-32 advantage on the boards but struggled from the free throw line, converting 23 of 34. Sophomore F Perry Ellis scored a team-high 19 points, freshman G Andrew Wiggins had 16 points and 5 rebounds, and junior G Naadir Tharpe added 13 points and 10 assists. Through 24 games, the Jayhawks are averaging 79.5 ppg on 49.9 percent shooting. Wiggins leads the team with 16.0 ppg, followed by Eliis at 13.2 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -23 for Kansas and they hammered the Frogs by 22 points on the road a little over two weeks ago. And after a couple close ones, TCU has reverted back to getting blown out of the water every time out. Joel Embiid is dealing with some back issues and has just been ruled out, though, so look for a closer game than the spread.
