The Line: La Salle Explorers -2.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The La Salle Explorers will look to take their frustration out on the Saint Joseph’s Hawks Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks have won three of their last four games and are coming off of a big win over the VCU Rams. They haven’t played in a week. But in their last five games, they’re shooting just 40 percent, which is a six percent decrease from the 46.2 percent they shoot on the season. The 28.4 percent from beyond the arc is nowhere close to their season average. Still, they’ve been able to win many close games with a defense that holds teams under 66 points. They are 10-8-1 ATS and 6-3 ATS on the road.

The Explorers are getting closer but keep coming up short, as they lost a heartbreaker to Saint Louis. They’ve now lost five of their last six games, but many of those losses were close against some of the top Atlantic 10 competition. On their home court, the Explores average 76.5 points, which is a seven-point increase from their season average. Defensively they allow 68.9 points on 43.4 percent shooting. They are 5-14-1 ATS and 2-6-1 ATS on their home court.
This is a tricky line because you aren’t quite sure how La Salle is going to respond from such a crushing loss. The good thing is it has had a week to get over the loss. The Explorers play much better at home and have won four of the last six meetings against Saint Joseph’s.
The home team is also 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams.
I know La Salle hasn’t made anybody any money this year, but that doesn’t mean that can’t change with this game. National television, at home and having a little confidence having just gone toe-to-toe with one of the best, I’ll take the home team and the small chalk. La Salle should give another hard fought effort.
