Storyline: Oklahoma State hopes to put the brakes on a five-game slide when they host Oklahoma Saturday.
The Breakdown: The Cowboys dropped to 7-5 and 8th place in the Big 12 after suffering an 87-68 thrashing at Texas Tuesday in their first game without suspended Marcus Smart. Ok State struggled shooting the ball, connecting on 21 of 59 from the floor and 5 of 19 from distance to the Longhorns’ 26 of 55 from the field and 11 of 23 from outside the arc. The Cowboys also conceded a 40-34 advantage on the boards. Junior F Le’Bryan Nash scored a team-high 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, senior G Markel Brown added had 18 points, and sophomore C Kamari Murphy added 10 points and 10 boards. On the season, Ok State is averaging 82.2 ppg on 47.2 ppg. Smart leads the team with 17.5 ppg, followed by Brown at 16.7 ppg.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma fell to 7-5 for 4th place in the conference and come in off a 68-60 loss to Texas Tech Wednesday. The Sooners were outshot from the floor 45.8 percent to 42.1 percent and from outside the arc 36.4 percent to 22.2 percent and conceded a 36-29 rebounding advantage. OU also struggled from the line, converting on 5 of 10 and committed 14 turnovers. Senior F Cameron Clark had 16 points and 6 rebounds, sophomore G Isaiah Cousins, scored 12 points, and sophomore G Je’lon Hornbeak added 9 points and 4 assists off the bench. Through 25 games, Oklahoma is averaging 82.9 ppg on 45.2 percent shooting. Sophomore G Buddy Hield leads the team with 16.4 ppg, followed by Clark at 15.8 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -3.5 for Ok State. The Cowboys got beat decisively by Oklahoma a couple weeks ago with Marcus Smart. Without him, beating the Sooners is a much taller order.
